Plunket have a range of FREE courses available for parents

and caregivers aimed at supporting their role through the

different stages of their child's early development.  These

are delivered through facilitated group discussions and

cover most of the 'basics' while allowing for input and

direction from the course participants.

The three courses are:

 

1) Your New Baby - the first 6 weeks
Your New Baby is a FREE course for expectant parents to help you survive the first 6 weeks.

Held over 2 sessions, this course includes discussions topics such as:

• The job of the parent (Coping with change and challenges)
• How baby communicates (tired cries, hungry cries etc.)
• Nutrition and breastfeeding
• Baby basics (bathing, dressing baby, nappies, moving with baby, car seats, strollers and packs)
• Support (Well Child Service, support in the first 6 weeks, immunisation)

2) Your Growing Baby - 6 weeks to 1 year
Your Growing Baby is a FREE course offering skills and advice for new parents with babies

aged between 6 weeks and one year. 

 

Held over 5 weeks this course includes discussion topics such as:

• Looking after baby -  Sleep, crying, safety, immunisation
• Encouraging Development – baby’s first teeth, introducing solids, activities to do with your baby
• Building a relationship with your baby,  managing infant behaviour positively
• Maintaining your health and wellbeing, relationships with others and health professionals, going back to work and child care options.

 

Come along and meet other local parents in a small, informal group where you will learn practical solutions to get you through those 'tricky' days!

3) Your Active Toddler - 1 year to 2 years
Your Active Toddler is a FREE facilitated group discussion on the joys and challenges of parenting children aged between 1 and 2 years.

Share your experiences and learn from others!
